Wardrobe Rentals
Rent from our collection for film, television, commercial and editorial productions, photoshoots and special events. Our collection spans the early 1900s through the early 2000s, plus contemporary designer resale. Our team are vintage specialists and working stylists, and we can help you research a period, build looks and pull pieces to fit your project, your timeline and your budget.
Rental Policy
-
Get in touch. Email allison@valenciastreetvintage.com, DM us at @valenciastreetvintage, or visit us at 714 Valencia Street.
Tell us about your project: the era or look, sizes, number of pieces, and your pull and return dates.
Book a pull appointment during store hours (we're closed Tuesdays). Productions can also send a mood board for a pre-pull.
Check-out. We photograph and document every piece, list it with its retail value on your Rental Agreement, and take a credit card authorization. Both parties sign before anything leaves the shop.
Wear it, shoot it, enjoy it.
Return everything by the agreed date and time, unwashed and unaltered, on its hanger or in its garment bag. We check each piece in against its condition report.
Renting from us means agreeing to this policy and signing our Rental Agreement at pickup.
-
Rates are per item, as a percentage of its retail price:
Up to 5 days: 20% flat. A $100 dress rents for $20.
1 week: 25%
2 weeks: 35%
Each additional week: +10%
Total rental fees never exceed an item's retail price. Fall in love with a piece? Buy it any time during your rental and we'll credit the rental fees you've paid toward its price. A credit card authorization is required for every rental.
-
Our standard rental is 3–5 days, counting pickup and return days. Longer rentals are welcome; just ask when booking.
Need more time once your rental has started? Contact us at least 24 hours before your due date and we'll extend it at our weekly rates, as long as the piece isn't already reserved.

Vintage garments are one of a kind and often delicate. While they're in your care, please:
Don't wash, dry clean, steam, iron or repair anything. We handle all cleaning and repairs ourselves.
Don't alter any item: no hemming, cutting, dyeing, distressing, glue or fashion tape on the fabric. Safety pins and clips go on seams only.
Keep items away from food, drink, smoke, makeup, self-tanner, fake blood, water and other special-effects materials.
Dress with care. Use a makeup hood or scarf, never force a garment that doesn't fit, and hang items between wears.
Tell us right away if something is damaged or goes missing. Most small issues can be fixed if we hear about them early.
-
Normal, light wear from careful use isn't charged. Beyond that:
Cleaning: items returned soiled, stained or with odors are charged our cleaner's fee.
Repair: charged at the cost of materials and labor, determined at check-in.
Loss or irreparable damage: charged at the item's full retail value, less rental fees already paid on it. The piece is then yours.
Late returns: 5% of each item's retail price for each day late. Items more than 7 days late with no contact are treated as lost.
All charges are itemized and shared with you before your card is charged.
-
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before your pull date are free. Later cancellations of a pre-pulled order may be charged a $50 pull fee.
Can't come in? Send us a mood board and size list and we'll pre-pull and photograph options for your approval. Pre-pulls are $50 per hour (1-hour minimum), credited against your rental if you go ahead.
-
We work directly with costume designers, stylists and wardrobe departments.
Paperwork: production title and company, billing address and production office phone, contact details for the designer and the production manager who approves invoices, a PO number if you use them, a credit card authorization, and estimated shoot and wrap dates.
Approval window: take items on approval for 48 hours after pickup. Items returned unused, with tags attached, within that window are charged 30% of the standard rental fee.
Production rates: 20% for up to 5 days, 25% for a week, 35% for two weeks and +10% for each additional week, per item.
Alterations: no alterations, breakdown, aging, dyeing, cutting or special-effects use without our written approval. Approved alterations must be fully reversed before return.
Returns are checked in by appointment. Please group and label items by character or scene where possible.

We'll never post production images before release without your approval.
